Spring 2013 Week 8 (May 14th)

End of the school year, almost end of the spring season, almost start of the summer. Busy times! I didn’t get a broken out list of the small vs medium shares this week, but the way it was packed leads me to believe that the medium is just extras of several things. Here’s what we have.

spinach
chard
shallots
onions
sorrel*
kale
radishes
collards
asparagus (purple and green)

* The sorrel looks different from before because it is starting to bolt in the warm weather. The stalks are getting woody, the tops are getting flowery. Pick off the leaves, and I recommend using them for a cooked recipe such as vegetable soup. The leaves will virtually disappear while giving it a bright flavor.
