Summer 2014 Week 14 (Sept 9th)

The tomatoes are being slow coming on, but we’re seeing a lot of those late summer crops — peppers, squash, stone fruit. In the next couple weeks, I expect to see more cucumbers, melons, tomatoes, and the first of the apples and pears. We have two more weeks of summer shares before we switch to the fall season. If you haven’t already, please sign up for the fall — it really is the height of the farm season, and it leads perfectly up to the Thanksgiving holiday.

There is one thing I’m not certain of for which share it showed up in, and that’s the box with the tomato and the baby squash in it. I listed it with the small here, but I might be wrong.

There were a lot of beets this week. I will post a pickling recipe tomorrow — it lets you change things up and set them aside for later.
