Spring 2015 Week 2 (Apr 14th)

I didn’t get the list from David this week that outlines small vs medium, but I’m guessing that the medium received extra spinach, fancy baby kale, and maybe the cabbage or shallots. But I might have that wrong. Thank you to those that are bringing back their boxes already (or taking their produce straight from the boxes at the drop locations).

Do you have too much asparagus?  Try roasting all of it in the oven (maybe cut small with new potatoes), slathered in olive oil or bacon grease.  I prefer the texture that way, and it is a change of pace from the usual steamed or sauteed.  Cabbage, collards, and kale will all be good sauteed side dishes as well (maybe not all together, as that would be a lot of cruciferous greens in one dish).  They’re always good with onions and garlic.  David gives us a lot of garlic in the winter shares, but by this time of year mine is long gone.  One of those giant Costco/Sams jars of pre-diced garlic is great for the spring, before the garlic and onion scapes start to come into season.
