Fall 2015 Week 2 (October 13th)

New items this week: cabbage for smalls and figs for mediums. Not sure I’ve even had a fig that wasn’t a filling in a cookie. Fancy fruit, cracker, honeycomb plate? I plan on experimenting with cabbage this fall to ferment some kimchi and sauerkraut, so hopefully they’ll keep coming in our boxes. Beets are already steaming for a lovely salad tonight. If it’s one thing I’ve learned with doing a CSA, it’s don’t put things off. The freshest, ripest food doesn’t wait to deteriorate. I love how David gives things in our boxes that elevate weeknight meals (candy stripe beets, micro greens, honey comb, etc). No picture post next week, I’ll be in Korea hopefully learning to make kimchi at the source. Enjoy your boxes!

Small: Greens (I need to find out what kind!), raspberries, san marzano tomatoes, patty pan squash, swiss chard, cantaloupe, cabbage, arugula, beets (light ones are candy stripe) and heirloom tomatoes
