Fall 2015 Week 7 (Nov 17th)

Nothing new in this week’s colorful box. The darker green napa cabbage is young and hasn’t grown the tighter, lighter colored center that we are used to seeing. David recommends the green tomatoes for fried green tomatoes (of course) or chili verde. Or you can lay them out so they don’t touch each other down in the basement away from sun and they should ripen up. I grabbed all the tomatoes from our garden before that first real frost and its working. As for the potatoes, I have to tell you to get to Trader Joe’s as fast as you can for the pre-sliced Raclette cheese and a jar of fancy little pickles. Steam potatoes, melt cheese in a ramequin in the oven and serve with pickles or simple radish salad and hot tea for an easy dinner on a cold night.

Small: daikon radish, golden delicious apples, napa cabbage, swiss chard, lettuce mix, purple potatoes, young spaghetti squash, red kale hearts, garlic, shallot, red and green tomatoes.
